The Optimist

For those of us still figuring out how to live life to the fullest

Welcome to The Optimists Journal! I’m glad you could make it. If you’re looking for some more insight into both my page and me you’ve come to the right place. Happy reading!
So, you’ve stumbled across my page and wonder if you should stay. Let me tell you if you should; this site is for the people learning to live their life to the fullest. The people who are still finding the balance between work and play. It’s for the people who have trouble putting themselves out there, meeting new people, experiencing new things. And most of all it’s for the people who want to live a life with little regret and lots of optimism.
But why Listen to me?
I’m a random 20 year old college student who has little life experience and, not to mention, I’m still on this journey myself, so why should you listen to me? Well, to answer that question let’s start at the beginning. I originally wanted to create a blog to get my writing out to the world, as most bloggers do, but as I was brainstorming what I wanted to focus on I couldn’t decide on just one or two topics. I wanted to write about new hobbies I was trying, the places I have travelled and the ones I still want to travel to, my health and wellness journey, my writing journey, and I could go on. It took me a while to stop trying to choose a niche and instead, to focus on the why. Why am I trying new hobbies? Why am I traveling to new places? Why am I on a health and wellness journey? Why do I bother writing? And the one collective answer I found? I want to live my life to the fullest. This blog is my documentation of the journey I’m about to start, and you can join me and find similar experiences, things you want to try, changes that you want to make. Plus you can help me, leave me comments, things I would enjoy, ways I could do better. So to answer our original question of why in the simplest way possible; you shouldn’t listen to me, however if you resonate with anything you’ve read so far, you should keep reading, and maybe we can help each other lead our lives with optimism.
If you’ve stayed this long I say thank you, and also issue a warning for we have gotten to the part where I talk about myself in the third person:
Madalyn Elizabeth Kate Richards. Where do I begin? She is a 20 year old college student living in northern New York and going to school at SUNY Potsdam for English Literature. She has very little idea of what she wants to do when she graduates in a year. Originally she wanted to go into teaching secondary school english, however she is now being swayed by her dream of working in the editing/publishing industry. She is hoping to get accepted into a graduate program for publishing after she graduates. Madalyn has very few hobbies (but is hoping to expand). Said hobbies include reading and writing. Specifically reading fantasy romance, and both fantasy and romance separately (but they’re more fun together 😉). She is currently reading the “Assistant and the Villain” series by Hannah Nicole Maehrer, and is enjoying it immensely. All in all, Madalyn is an average young woman trying to figure out the next stage of her life while also having fun and keeping her childhood heart intact.
If you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek into my blog I would love to have you join me in weekly posts about anything and everything. Subscribing will allow to get notifications every time a new story is released, and if you’re looking for a place to start I would recommend reading my first ever story “blank”
